Description
of what effects the edits/changes had on the original story/plot (opinion)
Like most opening changes, the story itself is unaffected but the viewer certainly miss out on seeing the show the same way the Japanese viewers did. |

Detailed
description of opening and ending changes
For episodes 36 to 39 the original Japanese episodes had slightly different opening animation. The new opening animation started out exactly like in the last 35 episodes until the group shot of Nadia, Jean, Marie, King and the Grandis Gang. The very next frame deletes the old Nautilus footage for some action shots of the New Nautilus and replaces the solo Captain Nemo shot with a group shot of the bridge crew of the New Nautilus, with Electra and Nemo with their new looks. The last two lines of the opening song have the same animation as the original with the close up of Nadia, the Blue Water then the ocean and sky. The Japanese home video release also had next episode previews (the broadcast didn't have any previews) and thirteen short 'omake' segments that explained parts of the story or the technology of the Nautilus in humorous ways. ADV was not able to obtain the license for these segments since they were created by a different company than the license holder for the episodes themselves.
