Unknown, as I have not yet had the opportunity to see this movie in any version.

Eleven minutes of the movie were deleted. I do not have a detailed listing of changed/removed scenes for this title, but Pioneer has not denied the editing took place. Unfortunately, I have never heard a reason from them as to why they made the edits to this movie.

What you can do to get the unedited version (import and domestic)
Englush Subtitled VHS:
  • Currently the only way to get the complete and uncut Dog of Flanders is to buy the Subtitled VHS tape. Although this is better than nothing, it's a shame that this movie isn't available uncut on DVD.
Petition:
  • Please sign the un-cut Dog of Flanders Petition. (coming soon)
Write/contact:
  • Please write or otherwise contact Pioneer and voice your opinion about the edits they made to Dog of Flanders. Remember to be polite as possible and ask them not to edit any future anime titles and to release an un-cut version of Dog of Flanders on DVD. Threatening or sending them flames will only get your message discarded.
